I was testing Kimai several years ago and then I decided to move to different time tracking tools and the last time I was mostly working with Clockify and now I found Kimai back and I’m very impressed how the software is working, How fast it is. And I also really like a lot the approach to host the software on my own so that we keep our confidential data in our own systems. The software is easy to use, it’s fast, and I get all the features that I need, and the possibility to discuss on GitHub also helps a lot to find fast solutions. Thank you very much for your very good work and let’s work together for the future.

I needed to find a good time tracker on short notice, and wanted it to be EU hosted and open source. Luckily, I found Kimai and have been very happy with it ever since, especially because it is very straightforward and intuitive to use. After using it for my initial project, the Kimai team helped me migrate my data for company use, now allowing us to roll it out for the entire team without losing the original data. Keep up the good work!

Kimai has worked perfectly for CodeWeavers. We spent a great deal of energy comparing timesheet solutions, from proprietary to open source. None of the proprietary solutions had the functionality and simplicity of Kimai. Because it’s open source, we can confidently rely on it for years and years to come. Finally, we have hired Kevin to help us customize Kimai for our needs. His work has been fantastic. As a result, we have a professional solution, custom tailored to our needs, for far less than we were prepared to spend on one of the proprietary solutions.

I’ve always preferred self-hosting services, but when I discovered Kimai, I saw the value in their free cloud plan. Wanting to support the developers (being a developer myself), I upgraded to the paid version, and it’s been worth every penny.

Recently, I made a mistake that almost wiped out all my data. Despite my plan not officially including support, Kimai’s team was there for me. They responded quickly and had my issue resolved within half an hour, saving me from a potential disaster.

KIMAI 2 wurde komplett neu programmiert, viele Punkte wurden optimiert und die Oberfläche auf den modernsten Standard gebracht. KIMAI ist eine eindeutige Empfehlung für alle, die eine Zeiterfassung suchen!

When I started to identify a time reporting software for our medium size enterprise (~30 people distributed all over United States and Canada) in the software service industry for onsite and remote services, I had several programs in my mind. In my specification I had the following things to be covered

• Customer related time reporting
• Project related time reporting
• Time approval
• Various hierarchies in user and access levels
• Open data interface for potential interfaces to other software packages (such as various payroll software packages for Canada and US, ERP for invoicing)
• Time budget for hourly packages
• Time reporting to customers with time budget
• The data is mine and I always want to have access to it
• I would like to create plugins if I need to add features that do not yet exist

I continued my search but always came back to Kevin Papst’s time reporting software Kimai. So I installed it on a shared host. I continued to set up a few users and imported a few customers, projects and finally understood how activities are to be set up (global and local). This is a feature that surprised me even more. Well implemented! I finally rolled it out to a small group and then the entire team. The time reporting is now fully implemented within 2 months from first idea to fully operational.

Then the demands grow with the possibilities: I purchased a few plugins and these were installed as simple as the main software. Then, when I had even more requests that I didn’t find an answer by plugins, I reached out to the developer Kevin asking for help with changing a report and he simply answered to consider this for the entire software, not just a module for me. It may be within some of the next releases.

In summary, Kimai is a flexible time reporting package with active code, modern, responsive and fast user interface and a fast responding support.

I want to say you thank you for this amazing tool you have build. Kimai is great for many purposes and I’m sure you can keep improving a great business with it. I found it a few years ago (in 2021), looking for some tools to make my life easier when i have to make everyday time tracking. So that’s the unique thing i use from Kimai.

Ich kenne Kimai schon sehr lange. Vor über 10 Jahren haben wir Kimai in einer großen Firma für die Zeitenbuchungen in einem Softwareprojekt benutzt. Es ist einfach zu bedienen und somit für jeden User benutzbar. Heute verwende ich Kimai in unserer Kirchengemeinde, Es ist eine Unterstützung um die angefallen Zeiten nach Kategorien zu buchen. Usiamo Kimai da ormai due anni per tener traccia del tempo dedicato ad ogni fase dei nostri progetti e per la fatturazione delle ore verso le nostre realtà. Il software è completo, intuitivo e risponde appieno alle nostre necessità. Oltre a questo Kevin si è sempre dimostrato disponibile ad attento alle nostre necessità!

Ich nutze Kimai seit mehreren Jahren. Zuerst in einem Unternehmen als Teil eines Projektteams. Später, als ich mich nebenbei selbständig gemacht habe, habe ich ein einfaches Timetracking-Tool gesucht und bin zu Kimai zurückgekehrt. Zuerst selbst installiert, dann in der Cloud. Für 3 Euro Betriebsausgaben im Monat bekomme ich als kleiner Nebenerwerbler genau das, was ich brauche: Schnelles Tracking, Übersicht über ausstehende Posten und eine blitzschnelle Abrechnung mit einem sauberen Timesheet. Aber auch für riesengroße Projekte mit einer großen Menge an Leuten bleibt es übersichtlich, nachvollziehbar und für alle einfach zu bedienen. Und der Support, in Persona Kevin, reagiert schnell und umfassend auf alles, was man braucht. Vielen Dank dafür!

Wir benutzen Kimai seit vielen Jahren, zuerst als Standalone-Lösung auf eigenem Server, seit drei Jahren nun aber in der kimai.cloud. Kimai erfüllt mit seiner Gliederungsstruktur die Anforderungen, die wir als Architekturbüro an eine Zeiterfassung haben und kann alle unsere Prozesse flexibel abbilden, was nicht bei vielen Zeiterfassungssystemen möglich ist. Die Zuverlässigkeit, die konstante Pflege und Verbesserung und der direkte, persönliche Service, verbunden mit einer absolut fairen Preisgestaltung überzeugen uns nach wie vor. kimai is a super web for keeping tracks of our daily work, the interface is clean and very useful, just easy, couple clicks and data, and that is done. we have used since 5 years ago, and the reports are easy to run. only 1 time i have to support a ticket, because we forgot the password!. thanks for all the work here!

I love how I can combine time tracking, expense tracking, and invoicing into one app without features hidden behind nagging subscriptions. I can click one button to invoice my clients now! Seriously a godsend. Also, the clean UI is well thought-out and simple to learn. Highly recommend this one!
