Kimai - Easy Time Tracking for everyone

Updates...

posted on 06 December, 2007 by torsten

I'm thinking about deactivating the warning screen that appears every time an update is performed. In deed I'm using Kimai with real data over a year now. I used it for my business even before I started thinking about ever making it public. The updater never broke the database structure critically (... and my installment went through a shit load of updates during that time). So I guess it's a good idea to get rid of that annoying thing. Also, there used to be an automatic update function in the past that actually worked pretty good. But I was afraid it could screw up the data of (quite a bunch) of users out there if I'd make the slightest mistake... So I removed it. But I'd like to have some similar functionality in there again. At least something like a ping if there is a new version available for download and how important that update is. Maybe the will be something like that soon. UPDATE 12-08-07: turning off the update nagscreen is now an option in vars.php ... UPDATE 12-09-07: also in vars.php you can activate a 'check-for-new-version-at-startup' option now

Just found a problem with this... I just tried to get a SVN beta and official version working of the same database today to test some stat extensions... Well after using the beta for a few hours i realized that one of the STAT extensions do not work with the beta and switched back to official for a second... Ok ya stats work over there lets test why... Going back to beta gets this... =[

"Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

...??

I guess i will post this in bugs but it seemed related to this so a heads up... Firefox suggests "This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies." I cleared all of my cookies and still nothing... =[

Kimai 0.7.13 changes the way some variables are handled. It's nessesary for the extension programmers to revise their code and look for those vars which are now located in an array called $kga. As far as I know the KimaiStats Extension from Axel Schroll isn't fixed yet. Simplestats from mort didn't need any changes regarding the KGA thing.

So the 7.10 and the 7.13 can not coexist in the same database... ?? I just can not seem to get the 7.13 working with the database i created in 7.10 after i saw the update screen in 7.10 once i reverted back for a test... =[
